Des has been involved with the Challenge team since about 1993. Whilst working as a freelance development tutor, he has also run a small design workshop making bespoke items of furniture and equipment for training and business simulation exercises. He has also been Involved in property development. From1982 to 1992 he was Senior tutor Outward Bound Wales 1973 to 1982 International Yacht charter business and other exciting adventures Qualifications Include Hon Geography Lower second Portsmouth Polytechnic:-BSc Single Pitch Supervisors Award MLC Summer RYA Narrow boat Helms certificate ESCA Mountain Bike/ Off Road Leader Leaders Certificate Certificate of Competence in Chain saw Operation. RYA Dinghy Instructor RYA Yacht Master (offshore) Intermediate Btech in fireworks Accredited Team Management Profiles and Belbin Team Roles. Type. Belbin team role Plant TMS major role Explorer promoter		Work Preferences: Des’s work preference is very much to seek out variety. He enjoys the company and stimulus of working with others though is as much at home alone in the workshop designing and creating a new device.( his Enigma boxes are very interesting!) The concept of “Learning by Doing” is very close to his heart. He enjoys the process of discovery and facilitating opportunities for others to learn from stimulating experiences Interests Des is a keen sailor a regular out on his laser in the Dovey estuary. He is often the villain in the Dovey players pantomime. He is a member of the Aberdovey Outward Bound Search and Rescue Team. He rows with the welsh longboat league and is planning to race across the Irish sea for the second time next spring He has recently co-ordinated the rebuild of the Neuadd Dyfi (www.neuadddyfi.co.uk) which has recently undergone a £300,000 upgrade. He is on a variety of village committees and enjoys making things happen. Fireworks are a small passion and in connection with Skyfire Pyrotechnics can put on some awesome displays
